Halo There, Readers

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
A new website header AND social bookmarking buttons all in one week? I know, I’m excited too. Now you can Digg our new ‘brews’ or share them on Facebook to your heart’s content. Hopefully these buttons work, but if they don’t, shoot one of us an e-mail and we’ll try to fix the problem. In terms of the the comic, I didn’t originally plan on cranking out three (relatively) topical comics in a row, but they just kept coming. Interestingly, that Harry Potter comic was originally one panel. Maybe one day it’ll see the light of day reincarnated as a poster or wallpaper.
Just finished beating Halo: ODST and, unsurprisingly, the campaign was short in comparison to Halo 3, but that was to be expected. The narrative of the game was also less linear, told in fragments from the POVs of different ODS troops. However, the game was still beautifully crafted. Loved the colour palette. It seems like the concept art was successfully realized in the game (check the art below).

I even liked the soundtrack of the game, arguably better than in previous Halo games. I know a lot of people are complaining about the $60 price tag, but the opportunity to once again play around in the Halo universe and get all the Halo 3 multiplayer maps was well worth the money for me. That’s about it for now,  make sure you bookmark/Digg/Facebook us for your weekly serving of piping hot Homebr00d goodness.

No updates last week (my apologies), but I was preoccupied with several things, like working, finishing the Harry Potter series, playing Batman: Arkham Asylum (sweet game), redesigning the Homebr00d apartment, camping, etc. I was also completely enthralled by the awesome Assassin’s Creed iPhone game. I only played the demo version, but still the developers definitely boosted my confidence in the iPhone’s ability to enjoyably play games. Check out the App Store to try it and check this video below if you’re curious.

I’ve also been busy making fonts for Homebr00d. I know I’ve been using “A.C.M.E. Secret Agent” consistently for the last couple of years, but I hate that it lacks lower case letters.  Luckily, I finally found the time  to make several of my own fonts. Some are for the comic and some are just based on my own handwriting. Anyways, rest assured; an update will happen this week so keep checking in.

PS. New Homebr00d kitchen shots are also available here.
